Nottingham High School has an exciting opportunity for a Library Assistant to join us as soon as possible working in the Senior and Junior School Libraries. The salary for this position is £11.40 plus competitive employee benefits.
The working hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm, term-time only including INSET days (Job share may be considered for the right candidates).

JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Purpose
The successful candidate(s) will support the Library at both our Senior and Junior School in a number of ways, including, but not limited to:
· Assisting in Library administration and keeping the libraries tidy. This includes answering enquiries, issuing and returning, shelving books accurately and general management of the library areas.
· Good organisational skills and confidence in using computers, working knowledge of basic Office programmes and a willingness to learn and develop skills are essential.
· Providing support and encouragement to Junior School pupils in their choice of books and ensuring the Junior Library is kept calm, happy, tidy and well organised.
· Supporting the Senior Librarian at the Senior School and the Reading Champions at the Junior School with the creation of display areas within the libraries.
· Being an approachable and enthusiastic presence in the Senior School to encourage students and staff in their recreational reading whilst keeping up to date with new publishing.
· Working under guidance of the Senior Librarian, to communicate with Academic Departments in respect of projects and initiatives to ensure the Library provides the right range of learning resources to encourage independent study as well as non-fiction reading to extended into post-16 education.
· Contribute to the Senior School’s co-curricular programme by supporting book clubs, reading groups, quizzes and competitions to encourage reading and information engagement at every level and promote the service the library provides.
