An opportunity has arisen for a part time Library and Information Services Manager working 30 hours per week to join our team. Along with the other part time Library and Information Services Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic development, organisation and management of North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust’s (NWAngliaFT) multi-site Library and Information Service. You will ensure the effective delivery of services to the staff and placement students of NWAngliaFT and other organisations served. You will ensure the provision of high-quality services in support of evidence-based practice, research, education and continual professional development, and healthcare and managerial decision-making. This post will be based at the Laxton Library at Peterborough City Hospital but there may be requirements to travel to the library based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and to other locations on occasions. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Librarian with excellent communication and IT skills who will proactively deliver a high quality Library service. You should also have a degree/postgraduate qualification in library and information science and be a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals or have equivalent library experience.

You will work four days a week, preferably Tuesday - Friday.

Management:
Design the Library’s strategy taking into consideration local, regional and national developments/principles and in consultation with service users, stakeholders and partner organisations where appropriate. Set service objectives towards the successful delivery of the strategy.

Manage the work of the Library’s staff as a multi-skilled team to achieve service objectives.

Undertake staff recruitment, selection, performance coaching and appraisal in line with Trust policies. Undertake disciplinary and grievance procedures and management of attendance where necessary.

Ensure that continuing professional development is maintained for all Library staff and provide support for relevant training.

Represent the Library within the Regional Network to ensure co-ordination, collaboration, networking and joint working and sharing of best practice.

Be Responsible for the Library budget, taking part in the budget setting process and be responsible for Library’s expenditure within the allocated budget.

Take advantage of additional funding opportunities where appropriate, preparing business plans/cases and bids where necessary. Negotiate service level agreements with partner organisations where appropriate.

Manage and implement change within the library and develop appropriate services and resources, ensuring the effective introduction of new initiatives, taking into account the needs of end-users, partners, stakeholders, and library staff.

Identify, procure and manage appropriate print and electronic information resources.

Track and assess performance quality in accordance with national and professional standards.

Prepare annual reports and other publications as required by stakeholders, maintaining and analysing statistics necessary to support such reports.

Undertake regular risk assessments in line with Trust policies, and be responsible for Health and Safety within the Library.

Service Delivery
Ensure that the Library provides a welcoming and well equipped environment to which individuals return for advice, training and to study.

Deliver a high quality enquiry and information service, including document delivery, expert literature searching, current awareness and outreach services.

Provide training courses and presentations suitable for a range of disciplines and abilities, including the provision of training guides and literature.

Organise information resources using professional cataloguing and indexing techniques, to ensure access and retrieval by end users.

Support the provision of patient information.

Take a proactive role and be responsible for the development and application of library and information technology/systems, in consultation with the IM&T department and in line with regional and national Library initiatives.

Implement adherence to copyright and data protection legislation within the Library.

Use effective channels to promote the Library and raise awareness of services. Communicate with users and stakeholders via a variety of routes to inform service delivery.

Review and evaluate service provision to reflect changing patterns of use.
