We are looking for a motivated Librarian with excellent communication skills to manage and develop the library service to offenders at Erlestoke Prison, a Category C establishment.

About the role
The Librarian will work with the prison education department to deliver library services to support and promote literacy, reading and learning within the prison community.
The postholder will be responsible for all aspects of day to day library provision, including the management of two library assistants and paid orderlies. Working 18.5 hours over three days, this post is part of the wider Wiltshire Libraries network of 31 libraries and three mobile libraries in Wiltshire.
Work pattern for this role is: Mondays 8am - 3.30pm, Wednesdays 8am - 5pm and Thursdays 9am - 12pm.
About you
The successful candidate will have a degree or post graduate qualification in Librarianship or other related discipline and proven management experience of working in libraries. They will be a registered Chartered Librarian or willing to become Chartered within two years of appointment.
We will look to you to have excellent communication skills with the ability to develop working relationships with internal and external partners, have strong reader development and stock management skills and the ability to support prisoners with literacy and ongoing education.
You will be able to show knowledge of current professional initiatives in a prison setting, have the ability to lead, manage and motivate a team of staff and orderlies and be confident and resilient to work in a challenging but highly rewarding environment.

Where possible interviews are virtual, but due to the nature of this role interviews will be in person. Current public health advice is followed for candidate and employee safety.

Salary: £32,909.00-£34,723.00 per year
