Job Title: Workshop Technician
Depot/Department: Workshop
Reports To: Workshop Supervisor
Responsible For: N/A
Purpose of Job: Ensures the company fleet is effectively serviced and repaired on a cost-effective and timely basis within company and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Qualified to Level 3 or equivalent in HGV/LGV maintenance and repair.
  • Experienced in using transport repair tools and associated software.
  • Experienced in following established procedures and problem-solving and/or making sound judgments where not all information is available.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures vehicles are repaired and maintained in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Prepares and present vehicles and trailers for MOT inspections.
  • Diagnoses vehicle-related defects using available diagnostic equipment and arrange for relevant action to be taken.
  • Liaises with vehicle manufacturers regarding acquiring of parts and replacement vehicles, keeping key colleagues informed of progress where necessary.
  • Ensures high levels of safety and cleanliness at all times and that required house-keeping duties meet required standards.
  • Updates and maintains appropriate records and ensures all relevant. information is shared with relevant departments on a timely basis.

Additional Requirements:
  • Holds a full driving license.
  • Capable of remaining calm under pressure and be able to deal with difficult customer conversations.
  • Be prepared to travel to and assist workshop colleagues at other depots and attend company events on a nationwide basis.
  • Able to participate in an on-call rota and attend emergency call-outs where required.
