Are you looking for a summer internship in Investment Management? One that develops commercial acumen alongside your technical skills?
We’re looking for undergraduates who can answer “yes” to the above for our 2023 Credit Rating Summer Internship programme. If you’re successful, you’ll join Legal & General’s well-regarded Investment Management business, which plays a pivotal role in our continued success.
What you'll be doingOver an 8-week program (starting July 2023) you will be part of a team, working with our colleagues and gaining first-hand experience at working in an Investment Management business. You will learn about the industry, our clients, and our firm. You will have the opportunity to develop new skills, meet new people and have the chance to add real value to the team you are working with.
Based in the Credit Rating team in Private Credit, your day-to-day will cover learning diverse aspects of financial and business analysis, including an introduction to financial modelling and fundamental credit analysis across a range of sectors, so you can build and develop your opinion of companies operating in the global capital markets. You’ll have access to the key decision makers in LGIM across the Credit and Investment Committees, deal makers, research, portfolio management and transaction teams – a great opportunity for an insight into the full breadth of the Private Credit industry.

What we're looking forFirst and foremost, we are looking for people in their penultimate year at university with an inquisitive mind and a desire to learn. We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:
- On track for a 2.1 Degree in any subject – we are open to all subject backgrounds
- In your penultimate of University (i.e. graduating in 2024)
- Analytical and creative mind-set
- Great communication skills
- Flexible and a team-player
- High levels of energy, dynamism and commitment
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively

The Credit Rating team gives an independent view on that question through financial, business, and structural analysis of transactions, helping the investment teams to structure and invest in the best possible opportunities for our clients. The tools you’ll learn in the Credit Rating team are those essential to all walks of investment across banking, investing, equity and credit.

The first step of the application process will involve asking you to upload your CV, answer the application questions, including an assessment of your eligibility based on A-Level grades and degree, online testing (General Ability), a recorded video interview, virtual networking opportunity with our existing grads and an assessment centre (encompassing a line manager interview, a presentation, a group exercise).
