Engineering Powertrain (EP) – Gaydon
Responsible for designing and developing world class engines, transmissions, drivelines and electric motors, our EP team is the driving force behind our vehicles. The scope of our propulsion systems is far-reaching and spans engines, transmissions, drivelines, electric drive units and energy storage devices, complemented by software system integration, calibration and control strategies. As part of the team, you will be key to securing our future as a leading provider of premium and sustainable electrified vehicles, supporting our commitment to reach Destination Zero by 2039.
Along the way, you will gain expertise in competitor benchmarking, computer modelling and software whilst working on innovative technologies including electrified propulsion systems, thermal systems and future propulsion solutions.
Engineering Operations (EO) – Gaydon
EO underpins technical innovation and product delivery with engineering expertise, tools and processes, and specialist technical support to deliver our world class products. As an Apprentice within EO, you will be fundamentally involved at every stage of the engineering process – driving exciting transformation to deliver products with class-leading technology and quality.
Developing skills alongside experienced colleagues, you will quickly gain expertise in writing reports, creating component test procedures and supporting both rig and in-vehicle measurement and modelling, as well as simulation, data analytics, artificial intelligence and robotics.
You could find yourself focusing on prototyping and tooling to expand our design capability, developing into a Test Engineer at our Engine Manufacturing Centre, becoming an expert on measurements or building your skills in design analysis or metrology.
Engineering Quality (EQ) – Solihull (main site) and Gaydon
Our EQ team interfaces and collaborates with stakeholders in Product Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing Programme Management (MPM), Vehicle Configuration and Test Systems (VCATS) and Manufacturing Launch throughout the pre-production and production build phases. Its mission is to deliver the electrical quality targets set by Product Engineering to achieve the world-class performance levels expected by our customers. As an apprentice in this key area, you will rapidly develop in-demand skills whilst acting as the interface between core engineering teams and manufacturing.
In short, this is the team that sets the world-class performance standards demanded by our customers. You can support the launch of new vehicles and the refinement of current cars, placing you at the heart of everything we do.
Product Integrity (PI) – Whitley
PI is responsible for identifying safety and compliance issues, covering vehicles in use with customers, within the retail network, within vehicle distribution and within manufacturing plants. Alongside Senior Engineers, you will work on ‘critical concern investigations’ to resolve issues and create our world-class products.
This will involve operating cross-functionally whilst developing close working relationships with representatives from all engineering disciplines and assisting the Critical Concerns Senior Engineer to understand and resolve technical case content. To make this happen, you will regularly attend vehicle inspections to gather information and data and create test rigs and experiments to support investigations.
Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) – Fen End
Our SVO team offers a stimulating environment for innovative minds, giving you the chance to develop and launch world-class SV-branded Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles that exemplify our key characteristics of performance, luxury and capability.
The SVO division is where bespoke craftsmanship, precision and innovation come together to meet the demands of our diverse VIP customers. We are constantly seeking to reach new heights of luxury and performance to create a feeling like no other, and you will become a core member of our team.
Working within the SV Chassis team, you will focus on hardware and systems delivery, including suspension tuneables, suspension architecture, brakes, steering, wheels & tyres, motion controls, Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) structural analysis and multibody simulation.
Vehicle Personalisation truly makes dreams come true: adding value to Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles – from accessories and armoured and commercial derivatives to extensive personalisation including special paint effects and limited-edition production runs – you will create solutions that are truly bespoke.
Stamping Group – Solihull, Castle Bromwich
Innovation and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do. Our Stamping Group combines both Engineering and Production Operations, responsible for the manufacture of tooling and the production of lowest cost, highest quality pressed parts to our customers’ satisfaction.
You could join our Engineering team to realise the unique Jaguar and Land Rover styling cues and the functional requirements of the major pressed parts that make up our body complete structures. Alternatively, our Operations teams use the latest technology to model both the forming of flat sheet metal into finished parts and also consider how presses, tooling and automation operate in unison to produce parts efficiently and cost-effectively.
Please note, as an apprentice in Stamping Group you will follow the first two years of the Applied Professional Engineering Degree Apprenticeship programme with the rest of Product Design & Development Pathway cohort. In years three and four you will study modules specifically aligned to Stamping Group.
