Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Legal Services Team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The role is for 37.5 hours per week.
You will report directly to the Trust Lawyer.
You will be responsible for managing a caseload of claims and inquests in accordance with national and local policies and procedures. You will liaise with individuals at all levels, including senior staff, solicitors, NHS Resolution, HM Coroner, the police and members of the public.
You will have a detailed understanding of civil law procedures and the principles of negligence. You will be able to work in a high pressure environment and will have excellent communication skills. You will also have the capacity to deal with highly sensitive situations and the ability to work effectively and professionally with colleagues across the Trust and with external agencies. The role will include some Court advocacy, the provision of safeguarding advice as well as the need to provide monthly / quarterly directorate / Trust Board reports on claims and Inquests activity and learning (including using the GIRFT initiatives and tools) .
You will lead the in-house team to ensure an effective and user friendly service to the Trust.
