Our company
We are a niche legal practice specialising in commercial and dispute resolution work. We regularly advise in areas such as franchise disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, insolvency litigation, contract claims, and property disputes. We are a small team of solicitors that need an enthusiastic legal secretary to join the team. The right individual will have the opportunity to undertake legal research and assist in more specific legal fee-earning type work.
The role
The role would be full-time and involve carrying out tasks of the following nature:
- Transcription of dictation, including typing letters, memos and attendance notes.
- Filing, photocopying, organising electronic files and distributing post.
- Inputting accurate data into case management systems and other electronic systems.
- Organising diaries, scheduling meetings, responding to telephone queries.
- Bill production and filing of invoices.
- Receiving and making client calls.
- Contacting the court, or other third parties, to make enquiries relating to client files and matters generally as requested.
- Receiving payments from clients.
- Recording time as per requests from fee-earners.
- General team support and admin, including PA support.
- Collating witness statement exhibits and preparation of bundles.
- Completing court forms and lodging documents at court (electronically or in person).
About you:
- Ability to use Word, Outlook and Excel proficiently.
- You must be able to cope in a demanding environment and be able to organise yourself efficiently.
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a legal secretary or legal practice.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field.
- The successful applicant will have a keen interest in law with a desire to pursue a career in legal services.
There is potential for progression in the future dependant on performance and business needs.
Training will be given for any unfamiliar tasks.
Location
You would be based in our Birmingham offices in George Street, just by the Jewellery Quarter. The office is a short distance from both Snow Hill station and Birmingham New Street train stations.

Salary: £22,000 to £25,000 depending on experience.
