Dundee Law Centre is recruiting for Legal Secretary to join a busy Social Welfare Law Firm to be part of a busy Case Management Team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Case Management team at Dundee Law Centre. Our team has been committed to increasing access to Social Justice for the citizens of Dundee for over 30 years. We seek a dynamic engaging, professional to become part of our case management team .

Job description: - Legal Secretary - Case Management Team.

  • Copy and audio typing to a high degree, with speed and accuracy being a focus. This includes, but is not limited to, meeting notes, general correspondence and court documents.
  • Produce, format and distribute a vast range of legal documents and general correspondence on behalf of the solicitors.
  • Deal with e-mails and telephone calls for the solicitors in all ongoing cases. Create and maintain accurate documents and records using our digital case management system.
  • Submit all Legal Aid applications (Advice & Assistance and full civil Legal Aid) including, but not limited to, following applications through to completion, uploading any required supporting documents and applying for increases as and when required.
  • Photocopying, scanning, diarising and general office administration.
  • · Undertake any other reasonable duties as they arise.

The successful applicant should have: -

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Secretary is highly desirable but not essential.
  • A minimum of 60wpm typing speed with excellent grammar and spelling, proofreading and editing abilities.
  • A professional and friendly approach to clients and colleagues. An understanding of vulnerable and challenging client groups with complex life circumstances would be an advantage. You will be compassionate, patient, and professional with a drive to make a difference.
  • The ability to cope with tight deadlines and a large workload. Must be able to handle pressure, work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and be flexible.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Previous experience working with a case management system is desirable.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, regulations and the Scottish Courts and Tribunals system would be an advantage but is not essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract

Salary: From £21,000.00 per year
