We have an opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal department. You will report into the Senior Legal Counsel and will be responsible for providing in-house legal advice and support across all relevant areas, with a focus on insurance matters including wordings reviews, wordings advice, dealing with TPA agreements, TOBAs, binding authority agreements, policy interpretation, coverage queries, renewal/non-renewal letters, and notices of review/cancellation.
This role includes responsibilities such as reviewing and negotiating BAU documentation, including NDAs, powers of attorney, side letters, contract and policy novation, transfers, assignment agreements etc. You will develop strong working relationships, and collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Underwriting teams and the Wordings team. The role also involves identifying, analysing and escalating potential areas of concern efficiently and where required, and proposing solutions for final approval.
The successful candidate will have a legal qualification with significant, demonstratable PQE and experience in the Lloyd’s insurance sector and wordings/coverage experience. You must also be able to analyse legal and commercial issues and to provide clear explanations of legal matters with solutions-oriented advice with a high standard of legal negotiation and drafting skills. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain good relationships.
