Role summary


We have an opportunity for an experienced Legal Counsel to join the Digital Intelligence legal team. This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative group of experienced lawyers providing business critical advice and support to the business winning activities of Digital Intelligence, as well as to contribute to broader group initiatives, guidance and training. The team provides a full range of legal support. This role will also provide you with the opportunity to gain exposure to high level stakeholders across the business.


The role is offered on a permanent basis, and reports to the Head of Legal, UK & EMEA. The base location will be the Guildford Head Office, however in line with our Hybrid Working approach this role will involve both home and office working.


What you’ll be doing


Your main responsibilities as a Counsel will be:


  • Supporting bids and programme delivery in key territories
  • Advising on a wide range of contractual matters
  • Leading on legal-focussed matters including data protection and disputes
  • Maintaining our “licence to trade” through good governance and compliance
  • Managing your portfolio of matters through appropriate prioritisation
  • Working closely with other members of the Legal Function and other functions including Commercial, Finance, Tax and Procurement
  • Gathering the data needed when facts are uncertain
  • Proactively suggesting ways to improve how the Legal Function and wider business works and what it delivers

What we’re looking for


This role is well suited to a proactive and “can do” individual, who has the ability and willingness to adapt easily to a wide range of internal clients and their various requirements and styles. You should be technically sound, commercially minded and risk-aware, and be able to provide appropriate full-range legal advice as required by your internal clients. You should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate easily and effectively with stakeholders at a range of levels within the organisation, both in the context of negotiation and advice but also in the provision of training and collaboration amongst your colleagues.


The essential skills and experience required for the role are:


  • Qualified solicitor or barrister
  • In-house Legal experience
  • Excellent technical understanding of commercial contracts
  • Experience in technology and cyber security
