Job description
Job Description
We recognise the value in having people with a variety of backgrounds, experience, and skills in our business. That means the role requirements here should be seen as a guide, not a checklist. If you have more, less, or different experiences, but relevant skills, we’d love to hear from you.
We work flexibly and will help you to find a healthy balance of remote working and time in our fantastic Southampton office, collaborating, taking part in events, and getting to know people that makes working with us so rewarding. We welcome the opportunity to discuss reduced hours and job share arrangements.
The Role
The Legal Claims Consultant will be responsible for the handling of guest and crew personal injury claims and guest breach of contract claims made against the company for all Carnival UK’s cruise brands (P&O Cruises, Cunard, Princess, Seabourn and Holland America Line). As part of the Carnival UK Legal Department, you will assist in the provision of related legal advice to all parts of the Carnival UK business as required including:
- Corresponding with guests and crew members directly and their legal representatives in relation to claims
- Undertaking thorough investigations into all claims by liaising with the appropriate departments and ships
- Making considered judgements as to reaching settlement or defending claims as appropriate on legal and commercial grounds
- Logging, monitoring, and updating claims and financial reserves as required
Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK09 and is offered on a full-time permanent basis, with at least two days based in our Southampton office.
About You

- Legal qualification to degree level or proven litigation experience in the handling and settlement of personal injury and contractual claims
- Good knowledge of the CPR and experience of small claims, fast track, and multi-track court processes
- Familiarity with Judicial College Guidelines on personal injury quantum and experience of valuing personal injury claims
