Legal Associate

About the role:
Help us build a high-performance legal function that will propel JCC towards becoming a leading name in the Tech, Innovation and Web3 sector, serving innovative products to the growing community globally.
As a legal associate, you will report to the CLO and be responsible for a wide range of duties related to legal matters. Your primary responsibility will be to provide legal support to the company by conducting legal research, reviewing, drafting and negotiating legal terms and documents.
You will be expected to have an excellent grasp of contract law and corporate law. This includes drafting, reviewing, conducting due diligence on potential clients/partners, and advising on mergers/acquisitions.
Experience working in-house in a financial services environment is essential for this role.
You will be expected to have a good understanding of financial regulations and compliance issues.
Overall, the successful candidate will have excellent legal skills and a strong commercial awareness. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A good understanding and experience in Web 3 is desirable.
What you will be doing:
- To take responsibility for corporate legal matters at both Group and subsidiary level, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer.
- Review, Draft and amend contracts, agreements, business terms, financial arrangements, transaction planning, document management, due diligence and other legal transactional matters including pre and post deal integration.
- Advise on corporate law and governance as required
- To support the Chief Legal Officer in managing external law firm partnerships and the efficient management of budget and resources.
- To encourage and facilitate early engagement of the legal team on new matters, projects and arising risks to ensure that legal advice can be provided at the appropriate time to assist and guide strategy.
- To proactively drive legal understanding and knowledge sharing within the wider business, to improve technical understanding of company law requirements.
- To stay abreast of legal developments and maintain effective horizon scanning to identify and understand changing legal requirements and opportunities in corporate legal matters and drive appropriate solutions.
- To proactively build effective relationships with stakeholders and business areas across the Group to establish an influential legal function and to promote legal best practice.
Your story:
General:
- 3+ years in in-house environment in a FinTech, Web3 or investment environment
- You are passionate about Web3/Crypto, understand the industry and the legal issues relating to it
- You are able to demonstrate knowledge and experience
- You are able to demonstrate you are pro-active
- Excellent presentation and executive engagement skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Fluent in English
Legal:
- Experience in reviewing, commenting and drafting a variety of legal contracts and documents
- Drafting and implementing variety of governance related documents
- Drafting a variety of investment documents
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £50,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
