Job description
Lawstop, a busy legal aid law firm, is seeking a full-time legal assistant to join our Referrals team. This role is remote and would suit someone with legal aid experience and/or a bright law graduate.
Main Responsibilities
- Respond to all referrals via telephone and email;
- Prepare relevant legal documentation;
- Ensure that forms are accurate and completed in a timely manner;
- Draft various types of legal documentation as requested;
- Obtain further information where necessary to ensure comprehensive legal documentation is prepared;
- Draft correspondence when required;
- Maintain an accurate record of all referrals in both hard copy and electronic format;
- Prepare referral reports;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Person Specification
- Able to communicate, in person and/or in writing, a variety of information to a range of people and be able to demonstrate tact/sensitivity when dealing with difficult situations.
- To be able to work well and quickly under pressure.
- The ability to cope in situations where there is an emotional demand arising from the work being undertaken.
- Experience of handling and processing manual or computerised information.
- The ability to organise own workload and decide priorities.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality & integrity.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Lawstop is a friendly firm who will provide the support and training needed; however, some knowledge of legal aid and the law is very desirable.
Salary: £22,000
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Part-time hours: 22.5 per week
Salary: £22,000.00 per year
