Merovitz Potechin LLP is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join our growing team. This is a hybrid position with the expectation to work onsite 3-4 days a week.

Summary of position:

The ideal candidate will assist lawyers with a wide variety of litigation matters, with a focus on civil and commercial litigation and some personal injury files.

Work includes, but is not limited to:

  • Opening files
  • Conflict checks
  • Initial contact with the client
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Saving documents/emails to the NetDocuments software as required
  • Photocopying and binding
  • Invoicing and follow up
  • Reporting letters

This is a full-time permanent opportunity that offers a great work atmosphere, opportunity for growth and a challenging environment.


Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of litigation, legal assistant or law clerk experience
  • Strong familiarity of Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Proficiency with ACL Automated Civil Litigation software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills to interact with employees, lawyers, clients and external agencies
  • Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
  • Professional, responsive and positive work attitude
  • Ability to maintain filing systems and basic databases
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills.
