Job description

Conveyancer and Legal Assistant position. This position requires excellent organizational and writing skills, proficient math skills the ability to work dynamically within our team environment. A self-starting, motivated candidate will thrive in this position.

Our firm will train for the skill set to start. Once trained, the job responsibilities will include: independent management of real estate files (eg. buying and selling properties), preparing real estate documents for signing with clients, preparing business law documents, preparing other ancillary legal documents as needed by the lawyers, use of firm accounting software, answering phones, in town deliveries, and attending to various tasks, as needed, to support the lawyers file development.

No previous conveyancing experience or legal assistant experience required.
We will be looking for applicants with office experience, book keeping experience and/ or service industry experience.

Experience/aptitudes:

  • Very high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks by deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to track progress of tasks over extended timelines
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft office tools
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, understand processes, and implement improvements
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients
  • Desire to learn and develop new skills
  • Desire to tackle intellectually demanding problems
  • Experience working in a customer service role
  • Experience working in an office setting considered an asset, but not necessary
  • Highschool education required. Additional post-secondary education in any field an asset
  • Ties to the Jasper area are an asset

Duties (non-exhaustive):

  • Frequently assisting lawyers on drafting legal documents
  • Frequently obtaining information from clients and third parties
  • Frequently managing various tasks and deadlines and prioritizing duties based on urgency
  • Tracking deadlines and completing tasks on time
  • Following up with third parties
  • Occasionally answering phones, booking appointments
