Responsibilities:
Ø Assist compliance manager on vendor contract review
Ø Oversee organizational contract development and management activities, and enforce organizational principles of integrity and compliance for company
Ø Develop standards for legal contracts, including presentation of budget, payment terms, general language and provisions
Ø Draft contractual provisions based on client’s course requirements, company input, and organizational needs and expectations.
Ø Assist compliance manager on internal employment law and immigration compliance. For the immigration regulation compliance: assist company in complying with following three major areas of immigration compliance:
1) Obligations that Apply to All Employers
a. Confirm the identity and employment authorization of all employees, including interns, hired after on Form I-9.
b. Retain and make the Forms I-9 available for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) inspectors when requested.
c. Avoid discriminating against applicants and employees based on national origin or citizenship.
d. Not retaliate against anyone because they have complained about national origin or citizenship discrimination or participated in a discrimination investigation.
2) Obligations that Apply to Employers Seeking H-1B Workers:
a. Before company may file an H-1B visa petition, assist company to obtain a certified Labor Condition
Application (LCA) from the Department of Labor(DOL).
b. Assist company to make attestations about the wages and working conditions of both H-1B and US workers. Employers must also maintain a Public Access File (PAF) that is available for inspection by any member of the public.
3) Obligations that Apply to Employers Filing PERM Labor Certifications
Complete other tasks that assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
Ø Master's degree or equivalent experience in a law or business-related field
Ø Minimum of 1 year of experience as a legal assistant or in a related field
Ø Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Ø Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ø Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ø Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases
