Here at the Liverpool School of Tropical of Medicine (LSTM), we are going through a period of growth, and we are looking to expand our team of in-house legal experts.

In this newly created role, you will work closely with the Head of Legal to help shape the future and direction of the department, whilst providing broad legal support to LSTM’s academic and professional services teams, across the business.

Ideally, you will be a qualified solicitor working within private practice, in-house, charity, a public authority or an education institution. You will need to demonstrate substantive core experience in commercial contract law-related matters including experience in negotiating, drafting and advising on various types of commercial contracts and the related issues.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Minimum qualified undergraduate degree level (or equivalent) in law (LLB) or other relevant undergraduate degree
  • Completion of the Legal Practice Course, Bar Vocational Course or equivalent and qualified to practice as a Solicitor or equivalent in England and Wales
  • Experience of working in a professional contract and/or general legal role.

  • Experience of preparing, reviewing, and negotiating a range of contracts for internal and external review.
  • Excellent knowledge, experience and understanding of developments in relevant legislation, practices and procedures
  • Experience of working and investigating across a range of legal issues, and a range of corporate entities e.g. dealings between business and charitable/not for profit organisations.
  • Experience of managing large and complex matters from commencement through to completion, on time and on budget.
