Job description

Legal Administrator (0757)

Our Residential team is one of the largest of its kind and they have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Administrator to join the Leeds office on a permanent basis with hybrid flexible working considered.

With a national presence across 8 locations, our Real Estate team are a force to be reckoned with. The team is big but it doesn't mean we've lost our personal touch. It's the quality and commerciality of our service, our industry insight and the talent and passion of our people that engages our clients, and they love what we do.

As a member of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership, the Leeds office brings fantastic opportunities for growth and development with this role offering a great starting point for those looking to move into a legal admin role.

What will you be doing?

We support our clients in a range of projects acting for PLC house builders, regional house builders, PRS investors and land-owners in respect of residential and residential-led mixed-use developments, for both build to rent and build for sale sectors.

This interesting role will see you working on a broad range of matters for developers, investors and social housing clients. These include assisting with portfolio sales and acquisitions, housing and leasehold management issues and ultimately playing an essential part in ensuring that new files are opened correctly. The role provides genuine scope to take on more complex responsibilities as you develop your knowledge in this area of law.

A willingness to embrace team working and a desire to provide excellent client service is important as our legal administrators are organised, flexible in their approach to managing workloads, confident with their work and are closely aligned with the vision, values and objectives of the people they support across the business. Adhering to both our internal processes and individual client requirements, in addition to producing initial correspondence whilst ensuring that all files are managed effectively and efficiently is a key part of the role.

Other duties may include:

  • Land Registry applications and land charge duties
  • Preparing financial payment forms and assisting with the preparation of completion statements
  • Ensuring client files are compliant with the Solicitors Regulation Authority
  • Making phone calls to clients and solicitors to update or chase for information
  • Checking file ledger balances and closing client matter files

What are we looking for?

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone making the next move in their Legal Admin career, or a Legal graduate looking to make the first step in to the profession. Experience in a similar role would be desirable but is by no means essential.

You'll have a strong team ethic with excellent attention to detail and your strong organisational skills will enable you to work to strict deadlines. Previous real estate / conveyancing experience, whilst advantageous, is by no means essential. What is essential are strong IT skills (including MS Word, Excel and Outlook) and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Teamworking capability is especially important within this team, as are communication skills and attention to detail.
