The school
Sport, clustered within the school of Science Technology and Health, is an ambitious and growing academic unit. Our national and international research profile, excellent teaching and learning, and welcoming and inclusive ethos supports an exceptional student experience (achieving (97%) and (93%) respective student satisfaction in the most recent NSS). Our department offers a number of undergraduate degrees and post graduate programs along with the opportunity to supervise Post Graduate Research students.
The role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer / Senior Lecturer to contribute to our vibrant undergraduate and postgraduate offers. The majority of your work will involve research, delivering high quality teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars, practical sessions, and lectures; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. The successful candidate will have evidence of a developing research profile. The successful candidate will join a well-established team based in the School of Science, Technology, and Health at York St John University’s 57-acre bespoke sports park. We currently offer a range of BASES endorsed courses at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Key requirements
Candidates will hold or be close to completion of a PhD/Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Science and have teaching experience and be able to demonstrate high quality teaching in both Biomechanics and/or Sports Therapy modules. Experience of module design, module leadership, and research interests that align with the research areas within the sport department at York St John would be a distinct advantage. For the senior lecturer position, it is expected that the candidate will have experience of PGR (postgraduate researcher) supervision and be able to demonstrate a commitment to applying for externally funded research, as well as having the potential to lead a research group within the subject area.
