Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Interior Design
The role sits within the Art & Music Department which offers a range of creative undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the arts, music and performance. The subject area has two distinct interiors courses: BA (Hons) Interior Design which links with architecture interior design industry, and BA (Hons) Interior Design Decoration which specialises in surface design, styling, materials and textiles. With excellent NSS results, the courses are accredited by the Society of British and International Design who also awarded Solent the Centre of Excellence status. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and offer relevant support on both courses.

You will be joining a highly qualified team with real passion for delivering excellent, real world driven teaching experience that enables students to develop their own identity and style. The curriculum places strong emphasis on conceptual thinking and critical analysis. The successful candidate is expected to offer hands-on experience through using a rich mix of teaching and learning methods complemented by live briefs, site visits and guest speakers. Students also have the opportunity to showcase their work at important exhibitions as well as to real clients and have constantly won high profile industry prizes and placements at prestigious organisations.
We are looking for an outstanding individual with the vision and ability to deliver high quality teaching and research practice. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching a range of subjects including, but not limited to, space planning, sustainability, design visualisation, communication, technical design, materials and finishes. In addition, the role will also involve contributing to the delivery of the University strategic priorities and implementing the Faculty annual action plan. Previous teaching and/or industry experience, and the ability to use industry standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Vectorworks and Photoshop are highly desirable.
