Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Games Art (Technical Animator)

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Games Art as Technical Animator. The ideal candidate should have experience of a creative approach to designing and delivering higher education curriculum at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels in subject specific and interdisciplinary contexts. This role requires a versatile approach and ability to deliver across different levels and (potentially) programmes and contribute to a vibrant and collaborative team that spans a wide range of digital arts disciplines, encompassing both academic and industry professionals.

The applicant should have experience of 3D modelling for games and understanding of technologies, games art disciplines, critical thinking practice within an industry context. We are specifically looking for candidates with demonstrable experience of technical animation, working with aspects of the animation export and implementation pipeline such as scripting and animation state machines experience. Experience in engines such as Unreal and/or Unity and Maya for 3d, familiarity with motion matching systems and experience with motion capture.

The applicant should also have an in-depth understanding of current industry trends within this field and/or be able to conduct research as well as delivering programmes that are grounded in the present but offer space to explore the future – leading students to investigate what it means to be a creative arts practitioner at the convergence of storytelling, technology and innovation.
