This opportunity would ideally suit Band 7 or an experienced Band 6 occupational therapist working in the NHS (or equivalent) that has expertise in formal teaching, training, and supervision.

We are growing our occupational therapy team due to continued expansion of our teaching portfolio. Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of occupational therapy and are responsible for a distinctive and high-quality education portfolio which includes the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, BSc Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship, the pre-registration MSc Occupational Therapy and MSc Advanced Practice in Sensory Integration. In addition, the team contributes to cross-department and cross-College teaching including the inter-professional education provision and CPD provision.
You will be involved in supporting the delivery of our occupational therapy courses and inter-professional portfolio. We are looking for individuals who can inspire our students and make a valuable contribution to their learning experience whilst preparing them for contemporary occupational therapy practice. Alongside this, is the opportunity to develop your career to further your own academic profile and enhance your teaching studying for the Hallam Academic Award (PG Dip Academic Practice).
You must be an HCPC registered occupational therapist and have well developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to contemporary practice. We ideally seek to employ a candidate who is at the forefront of new ways of working in the NHS in either primary or secondary settings demonstrating care innovation and emergent management pathways. We are currently developing a team of lecturers to lead our practice simulation activities. It would be envisaged that the successful candidate would be part of this innovation and lead occupational therapy education in higher education whilst retaining strong links with practice partners.
The role also requires contribution to either our pre-registration undergraduate and masters’ courses or apprenticeship courses through teaching, assessing and academic citizenship/research activity. The ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with a range of backgrounds is required. You will support students’ academic and placement learning progression and work collaboratively to enhance the student experience.
