Job description
Faculty of Health Sciences/Hull York Medical School Applicants are required to submit a current CV and covering letter. The Hull York Medical School (HYMS) is seeking to recruit an outstanding colleague with interest and experience in medical image analysis and kinetic modelling to join the Hull Molecular Imaging Centres (HuMIC) development. There is a surge of interest in nuclear imaging, with step change developments in the adoption of theranostic approaches and new clinical scanning technologies. In Hull, we have developed infrastructure (>£15 million investment) and a strong programme of research in positron emission tomography. Nuclear imaging techniques are developing rapidly with novel radiolabelling, immunoPET and AI/ radiomics analysis being adopted in a clinical setting. There are a wide range of opportunities in translational imaging, exemplified by the well-funded and innovative research programme in Hull (including MRC, EPSRC and commercial funding). We are looking to recruit a talented Lecturer in Medical Imaging to join HuMIC, within the newly established Centre for Biomedicine. HuMIC is a collaboration between the University of Hull/ HYMS, the Daisy Appeal Charity and the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The infrastructure includes two cyclotrons, state-of-the-art preclinical scanners, GMP radiotracer production facilities and one clinical PET/CT scanner (with an extended field of view scanner ordered). The development also links to the new Biomedical Institute of Multimorbidity (BIM), which is an ambitious new research institute constituting four research themes (Cancer Imaging; Cardiovascular & Haemostasis; Wound Healing & Respiratory; Diabetes & Metabolism) that capitalises on existing areas of research strength within Hull York Medical School with the aim of making major discoveries aimed at enhancing the diagnosis and management of increasingly prevalent complex health conditions in an ageing population. We encourage applications from ambitious and experienced research leaders with a track record of achievement in the field of medical image analysis. We have a wide range of clinical interests with particular focus in oncology and are keen to compliment the existing clinical team across HYMS and the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You will be expected to develop, deliver and contribute to cutting-edge research studies, generating external research income and REF-returnable research outputs of international quality. Based on your track record of achievement, you will be expected to initiate a programme of externally funded research, support commercial interactions and undertake high quality knowledge exchange. While the focus of this position will be research, you will also be expected to deliver excellent teaching within our undergraduate and taught Masters degree programmes, as well as offering high quality undergraduate and postgraduate research project supervision. We will appoint a candidate who aligns to our values: Everyone Counts: We promote a culture of diversity, respect and aspiration, and empower everyone to realise their potential. Pursuing Excellence: We combine a pioneering approach with innovative methods to drive excellence in all we do. Socially Responsible: We are dedicated to public service and to improving lives within our communities. Collaborative: We work in partnership, recognising the strengths of others.
