£38,474 to £44,414 per annum

We are now looking for a Lecturer in Materials Science to join our Swansea campus on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.
- THE ROLE –
You will be required to devise a range of teaching and assessment materials, covering several modules and subject areas. You will deliver teaching in a variety of different learning environments and use a variety of teaching styles and approaches, including all levels of undergraduate study and, where appropriate, postgraduate study.
You will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students to the highest professional standards and with regard to the ongoing enhancement of the student experience. You will, if required, undertake scholarship, research, training or project work, either individually or within a team, to ensure ongoing professional development and to enhance the profile of the Academic Discipline, Institute and University.
You will make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Academic Discipline that may cover areas such as dissertation supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops, staff training and professional development.
- ABOUT YOU -
To be considered as a Lecturer in Materials Science , you will need:
- An honours degree in a relevant discipline
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
- A teaching qualification or the willingness to undertake one.
- Evidence of good organisational and personal management skills
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
- IT proficiency and experience of using e-resources including a willingness to teach by video-link, VLE, e-mail or website delivery
- Evidence of ability to balance competing pressures of administrative demands and deadlines
It would also be beneficial if you had a:
- A PhD/DBA in a relevant discipline
- Membership of a relevant professional body or teaching qualification
- Experience of supervising postgraduate and research students
- Experience in teaching, delivery, assessment and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate level in relevant subject area
- Experience in the design and development of module content
- Industrial experience within the field of manufacturing
- Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh – written and oral
