Hours/Duration: Open Ended (0.8FTE) PLUS additional Fixed Term (0.2FTE) until 31st July 2024
Grade/Salary Information: Grade 8 (£42,978 - £54,395 pro rata)
Requisition reference: CVBE007A
Queen Margaret Business School has a number of international partnerships delivering several highly successful programmes in Business, Hospitality & Tourism, and Accounting & Finance at locations around the world including India, Nepal, Greece and Uzbekistan. These programmes are thriving, and demand for them is growing year on year. In addition, the university has recently begun to develop and deliver fully asynchronous online postgraduate degrees and we plan to expand this provision into the Business School in the coming year. As such, we are now looking to expand our team of finance and accounting lecturers with someone who brings specific expertise in banking and finance.
The successful candidate will be able to develop high quality teaching material and pursue innovative scholarship in the field of banking and finance. You will have some previous experience as a university lecturer and be a committed educator, supervisor, and outstanding communicator. The role will require you to contribute to a range of teaching, scholarship, pastoral, and administrative activities across the division, but the majority of the role will be oriented towards providing high quality academic support to our transnational partner institutions. In particular, the role holder will be required to offer subject specific advice and guidance on the delivery and development of finance and accounting degrees, ideally based on relevant banking and finance industry insight and/or experience. Building a strong relationship with the teams at our partner institutions, the post holder will take a leading role in the routine operational and quality management of these transnational degrees. The development and delivery of teaching and learning materials in relevant areas will also be required.
While the role is a 0.8 FTE open ended contract, an additional 0.2FTE will be added to the role on a fixed term basis until July 2024. This additional fraction is to provide support to the finance and accounting team while we develop some of our new asynchronous online modules. The role holder may be involved in the development of these modules or they may take on some of the teaching responsibilities of the existing team in order to allow them time to develop the new content.
