This post is part-time and permanent, working 21 hours per week. The full-time salary is between £43,611 and £48,433 per annum and is pro-rata for this part-time role.
We are seeking an inspirational creative individual who is passionate about teaching the theoretical aspects of fashion design and cultural studies. The successful candidate will design and deliver lecture programmes and seminar activities, develop contextual, supportive, critical frameworks for final written project, provide Individual tutorials, undertake marking and feedback.
Duties include the devising and delivery of preparatory pro forma, electronic feedback, Thesis Writing Workshop, organising groupings with co-supervisor and mentoring of same, one to one tutorial, design, delivery, and assessment of Interim Presentations, marking, double marking re parity & standardisation, and written feedback. We are looking for applicants who have exceptional skills and experience in teaching and research as well as the ability to teach both online and on site.
We are particularly looking for applicants with an interest in and/or experience of de-colonising the curriculum, and the developing teaching around the growing fields of sustainability, diversity, and digital possibilities in fashion design. Experience of organising student visits to museums and galleries, organisation of talks / symposiums and active participation in conferences an advantage.
You will have sufficient experience of working with large student cohorts, working with both permanent staff and part-time visiting lecturers and be adept at timetabling and organising lessons and administrative duties. Fashion is a rapidly expanding area at Westminster, and there are opportunities for the right candidate to develop the role and subject area further in line with the school’s strategy. As a permanent team member, you will fully engage in departmental innovation and activity.
As part of your interview, please be prepared to present the first ten minute of a taught session demonstrating how you would combine contemporary fashion knowledge with critical analysis pitched at level 4 (first year) students.
