An exciting opportunity has arisen at Bradford College; we are looking to appoint a creative and inspiring lecturer to join our ambitious and dedicated Education & Social Care Department as a Lecturer in Education (PSET ESOL specialism).

The successful applicant will teach across Post-Secondary Education and Training courses and will deliver the specialist pathway in English and ESOL. They will also manage and deliver the Trinity Certificate TESOL - Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Ongoing support will be available given by an experienced manager as well as opportunities to develop your career through our Learning & Development team.

This role is ideal for someone with a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of ESOL and Literacy. Experience of high quality, reflective teaching within an HE/FE environment is essential.


Responsibilities include:

  • To design and deliver a wide range of effective and inclusive teaching and learning activities

  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.

  • To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback.

  • To develop and apply innovative approaches to improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods

  • Engage in professional development in relation to teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence-informed approach, which utilises the outcomes of scholarship to enhance teaching practice

  • Contribute to course development and the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery.

  • Contribute to outreach and/or widening participation activity within the Department/ School

  • Produce Plans of learning, lesson plans, assessment plans, varied learning materials and any other related activities that positively impact on the effectiveness of learning.

Education & Training


  • First degree or Level 6 professional qualification

  • A recognised teaching qualification for FE

  • A specialist qualification for teaching ESOL or Literacy


Experience


  • Experience of successful teaching/training and the evidence of performance /data to support it (e.g., Lesson observations, retention, and achievement data)

  • Experience of high quality, reflective teaching within an HE/FE environment

  • Experience of the effective design and delivery of high-quality inclusive teaching and learning activities

  • Up to date knowledge of content and methods of teaching and /or supporting learning including the value and use of learning technologies

  • A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of a relevant subject area i.e., ESOL and Literacy.

  • Experience of improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods

  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures

  • A clear commitment to scholarship and/or enhancing professional practice.
