Job description
We are looking for two part-time Learning Support Coordinators to join our Disability and Dyslexia Team on the Falmer campus.
As part of a wider Student Wellbeing Team, you will work creatively with students and staff to determine what reasonable adjustments are required to minimise barriers to learning for disabled students. You will offer students 121 appointments, either face-to-face or via MS Teams, to gather information that supplements their formal disability evidence. You will then use this to create a personalised Learning Support Plan. You will also support students applying for funded support, such as Disabled Students Allowances, and provide general disability advice to both students and staff. This may include contributing to disability training events.
You will bring to the team a knowledge of Further/Higher Education, a broad base of disability knowledge/good practice and a passion for enhancing the student experience.
Approximately 27% students at the University of Brighton have told us about a disability, and we have over 3500 students with active Learning Support Plans. This includes those with specific learning differences, physical and sensory impairments, mental health and autistic spectrum conditions, as well as other disabilities and long-term medical conditions.
These are permanent positions for 0.5FTE (18.5 hours per week) and 0.6FTE (22.5 hours per week), with the opportunity for hybrid online working between the campus and home.
We expect interview to take place on Tuesday 5th September.
