Salary: £24,496 - £26,845 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hrs per week
Base Location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role
Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent
Closing Date: Monday 8th May 2023
Interview Date: Week commencing Monday 15th May 2023 - this will take place via Microsoft Teams. This software is free for users. If there is an issue with accessing this technology, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements prior to the interview.

More about the role:
The Workforce Development Team supports the ambitions of the Council and its staff to provide a great service to Central Bedfordshire residents through career development opportunities that enable staff to find their greatness.
The Learning Assistant – Work-Related Learning will be responsible for:
- Supporting the development of routes into the Council through work experience placements for school, college and university students; internships; and other programmes, e.g., supported internships.
- Supporting Council departments to plan for and host student placements, and advising on health, safety and welfare issues.
- Working with schools, colleges, universities and other partner organisations to organise work-related learning activities.
- Attending careers fairs and other events to promote opportunities at the Council and raise awareness of careers in local government.
- Supporting the development of information resources to highlight work-related learning opportunities and career pathways at the Council.
- Maintaining the work-related learning sections of the Council’s website and intranet.
- Managing the work experience email inbox, dealing with queries or passing them on to more senior colleagues.
- Working closely with the Learning Assistant – Apprenticeships & Graduate Programmes on Learning Pathways initiatives and providing cover for each other’s roles as needed.
The Council offers work experience opportunities to school, college and university students, facilitates a variety of apprenticeships, and will be supporting T-Level placements with local colleges. The Learning Assistant – Work-Related Learning will enhance our capacity to offer these experiences.
This role offers the chance to be creative and work collaboratively to develop exciting and attractive new opportunities for young people and people looking to make career changes. While experience of working with education providers or for an educational organisation would be beneficial, you will be given the training and support you need to be successful in the role. It is important that you can demonstrate a willingness to support the development of new and existing talent and enhance Central Bedfordshire Council’s learning offer. You will be an effective communicator, problem-solver, and team player.
