About Us:

Making our museums meaningful for the widest possible range of people

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea manages two of the most important house museums in London: Leighton House, the former studio-house of the Victorian artist Frederic, Lord Leighton; and Sambourne House, home of the legendary illustrator Linley Sambourne. These are an incredible resource and we run an evolving programme of events to ensure they are accessible and welcoming. From workshops and live music to lectures and outreach activities, we engage with the widest possible audience by devising a diverse range of activities and delivering them on site, off site and online.

The Role:

Supporting the Learning and Public Programme Manager, you’ll develop and deliver learning materials and programmes to help people engage with the arts, heritage, culture and science through our museums. There will be a particular focus on schools and reaching out to people in the local community who are currently under-represented and those with additional needs, but your audience is potentially global. While it’s often a practical, hands-on role, engaging face to face with the public, you will also be expected to contribute to vital administration, data gathering, evaluation and reporting.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information

About You:

Highly organised, reliable and practical, you’ll be ready for the challenges of delivering this busy programme. You’re likely to have a background in the arts, teaching, learning or museums and heritage. Enthusiastic and resilient, as well as calm and patient under pressure, you enjoy working with people of varied ages, abilities and backgrounds. An exceptional communicator, you have the initiative, energy and ideas to grow the role and build connections. As your expertise develops, there are plenty of opportunities to acquire new skills and explore different aspects of the role, and even discover avenues for wider progression within the service.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
