Job Overview
About the role
As Lead UX Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the processes and practices that will modernise Ibcos’ and Catalyst’s portfolio of dealership management software solutions. Working with partners in Product and Engineering you’ll be an integral part of the end-to-end product development process, with the agency to influence the shape and direction of the offering.
You’ll partner closely with peers in the wider product team to drive a cadence of product discovery that will enable you, and the wider product teams, to develop a deep understanding of the needs of Ibcos and Catalyst customers. Using this insight you’ll bring a strong perspective on where and how the users’ experience of the portfolio can be improved.
As our first UX hire, this presents an exciting opportunity to introduce and embed the process and practices that will enable us to create simple, intuitive and delightful experiences for our customers. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping what good UX looks like for Ibcos with the potential to create a huge impact through great design.
What you’ll do….
· Collaborate with peers and partners across Product and Engineering (from discovery to delivery) to create highly usable solutions that meet the needs of customers.
· Plan, organise and conduct regular rounds of research to help teams establish a better understanding of users’ motivations, problems and needs.
· Analyse, synthesise and document insights gathered from user research into digestible reference artefacts e.g. Personas, JTBD (Jobs To Be Done) and User Journey Maps.
· Create high-level concepts and prototypes that enable teams to explore and validate ideas with users; increasing confidence in the solution(s) teams choose to implement.
· Produce storyboards, task flows, wireframes and functional prototypes that illustrate the specific interactions and interfaces that craft the desired experience.
· Carry out regular rounds of usability testing to ensure solutions are highly intuitive, usable, and performant; helping teams iterate towards an optimal implementation.
· Foster highly inclusive and collaborative UX practices that ensure the wider teams are engaged with and can freely contribute towards a problem-solving approach.
· Define and document the UX architecture of the Ibcos offering including the interaction model, information architecture, core workflows and global patterns.
· Provide the guidance and direction necessary to create a global design system that defines a consistent and coherent experience across the portfolio.
· Work across web, desktop, and mobile form factors to create a consistent, multi-model experience across multiple touchpoints.
· Work closely with the product director and wider product team to advocate, integrate and embed UX best practices as part of the end-to-end product development process.
· Create and champion the standards, heuristics and measures that serve to establish and maintain a bar for experiential quality.
What you’ll need…
· Recent experience of working in a similar lead level UX/Product Design role, ideally in the B2B software space (experience working with dealership management systems is a plus).
· Prior experience working in a senior UX/Product Design capacity across a variety of projects/assignments that demonstrate a bias towards User Experience Design, User Research and Information Architecture.
· Strong advocacy for user-centred design practices with the ability to confidently run workshops and facilitate others through the problem-solving process.
· Highly customer-focused with the ability to empathise, understand and design for the needs of different user profiles/personas.
· Highly fluent in using collaborative design and prototyping tools e.g. Figma.
· A broad knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and experience working with commons testing tools and platforms.
· Experience working on and designing for multimodal applications including desktop, mobile and web applications.
· The ability to think strategically and systematically; taking a 100ft view of a product and being able to identify core interaction paradigms, patterns, and workflows.
· A pragmatic and experimental mindset that enables you to rapidly iterate towards a design and demonstrate measurable impact for the business, and its customers.
· A keen eye for detail, a passion for the craft, and experience in developing, contributing towards, and maintaining design systems.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, stakeholder management, and the ability to be highly effective in a cross-functional, Agile team setting.
