Hours: 42 hours per week- 4-day week. 1:6 weekends with lieu time.
1 Bank holiday a year with lieu time. On call Rota 2-3 weeks per year.
Your role and responsibilities
We are currently seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience in the Emergency and Critical care environment to lead our RVN’s and support them within the critical care aspect of the nursing role.
The lead nurse role is key to the business to provide a high level of clinical standards, alongside the senior leadership team, and the clinical director.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Provide a high and sustainable quality of nursing care, with a focus on wards and intensive care support.
- Provide leadership to associates including Nurses, Student nurses and Patient Care Assistants.
- Line manage a team of RVN’s, SVN’s and PCA’s and provide HR support for onboarding, sickness reporting, Personal Development Reviews and training.
- Maintain effective communication with the team, including other lead nurses, and the clinical nursing manager.
- Managing your area of responsibility with the implementation and updating of standard operating protocols and have a pro-active approach to positive change.
- Participation in cleaning and maintenance of all areas of the hospital, alongside team.
- Work with the Clinical Nurse Manager to identify, prioritize and implement development and CPD for nurses in your area of expertise.
- Maintain RCVS practice standards within the hospital.

- Certificate in Emergency and Critical care is desirable however there is scope to develop this within the role.
Our hospital:
Village Vet Hampstead 24-hour hospital is in North London and walking distance of Belsize Park, on the northern line. It is situated within a village community, close to local cafes and shops.
Our Hampstead hospital is exceptionally well equipped and is set out across 4 floors. We have everything you would expect us to, including full diagnostic facilities, an on-site laboratory, dental suite, intensive care (ICU) area within the hospital, separate cat and dog wards, dental and surgical suite. We have a separate cat friendly waiting area and pride ourselves on our cat and dog friendly attitude.
