About the role:
Network Rail Consulting is currently hiring for an experienced Lead Project Engineer to join the Digital Systems Program (DSP) with our client, Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW). Since 2018, we have been a key partner to TfNSW’s Digital Systems Program, bringing together technical and operational functions to deliver an ETCS L2 railway for TfNSW's heavy rail network.
In this role, you will lead the onboard workstream for ETCS L2 and ATO and ensure it is integrated with the remaining Digital Systems Program sub-systems and legacy infrastructure. The successful applicant will have demonstrated leadership skills, and the confidence to apply their technical expertise in a consultancy environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Work to deliver the requirements of the Digital Systems program which meets the client and business requirements established by Transport for New South Wales.
- Lead the onboard works for the Digital Systems team to achieve business objectives by owning functional deliverables and interfaces that meet key project milestones and performance objectives.
- Lead the technical guidance for the onboard system and be responsible for the integration of the onboard works with the other sub-systems.
- Provide expert advice and interpret the technical requirements for compliance with statute, system design, national and international standards, and industry practice.
- Lead the technical advice for planning the implementation of onboard rail systems to support the introduction of ETCS Level 2 onto the Sydney Trains network.
- Provide technical expertise for the implementation of operational specifications, policies and procedures to ensure efficient, effective and safe working.
- Ensure all technical onboard deliverables are completed in accordance with the System Integrator program and at the required quality level.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential
- Substantial experience of working with onboard systems on railway signalling projects.
- Strong background in engineering on signalling projects including leading an engineering team.
- Experience of ETCS including knowledge of the European Technical Specifications for Interoperability.
- Experience of delivering rail projects to successful completion on time and within budget.
- Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills.
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and accurately capture, interpret, and implement agreed changes as required.
- Excellent attention detail and report writing ability.
- Ability to manage time effectively among competing priorities.
Desirable
- Knowledge of one or more of the following sub-systems; FTN, DTRS, ATO, TMS or equivalent sub-systems.
- Working towards chartered or incorporated engineering status.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- Experience during the development and entry into service phase of new rail infrastructure.
- Knowledge/experience of working in the Australian rail industry.
