What you’ll be doing
We are seeking a highly motivated Business Law Tutor to join our team. You will be responsible for teaching and guiding in the field of Company or Business Law.
Company Law is taught on our Law Conversion Course, and Business Law and Practice is taught across a number of our programmes, including the SQE, the Legal Practice course and Legal Apprenticeships. The scope of Business Law and Practice is broad and includes for instance, the different types of business entity, incorporating companies, the structure of companies, company procedure, directors’ duties, tax, business accounts, and an introduction to debt finance, equity finance, relevant employment law, and insolvency.
The Business Law curriculum at BPP is therefore very exciting and varied. In addition to this curriculum, our Business Law Tutors will teach a more specialised business law module on either the SQE or the Legal Practice course. Specialist finance modules that we teach include Debt Finance (banking law, covering loan agreements, security over assets and bonds), Equity Finance (covering flotation and the rules surrounding the listing of public limited companies), Corporate Finance (covering a mix of debt and equity finance issues) and Private Acquisitions (covering all of the stages of the buying and selling of private limited companies).
You will be expected to prepare and deliver high-quality workshops and other seminars, to provide constructive feedback to students, and to support their learning through various teaching methods. You will also be expected to contribute to regular discussions within our Business Law team and to develop key skills in designing workshop materials and drafting assessment questions. Additionally, every member of the team contributes towards the marking and moderation of assessments.
