Job Summary
- File/project management, including initiating/leading meetings, identifying and executing next steps, drafting documents, tracking and initiating follow up, maintenance and organization of file (electronic and hard copy)
- Drafting correspondence, lists of documents, affidavits, undertakings charts, transcript summaries, written discovery questions, and various other documents
- Preparing court documents including Books of Documents, Books of Authorities, and motion materials
- Preparing for meetings, discoveries, trials, and other dispute steps
- Attending and assisting at meetings, discoveries, and hearings, as required
- eDiscovery tasks, including maintaining document databases, assisting with document production, objective coding, and other document review
- Assisting with internal operational tasks, workflows, and guidelines
- Other duties, as required
- Paralegal degree/diploma, law clerk diploma or other credentials with relevant paralegal/law clerk experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in litigation
- Management experience, including supervising and overseeing junior employees, leading files, and managing results
- Comfortable managing junior and senior level employees and Partners to ensure projects and deadlines are on track
- Ability to think strategically and confident using proper judgment to make sound decisions
- Strong knowledge of e-Discovery software such as Relativity, Ringtail, or Summation
- Proficient in standard office software such as MS Word, Outlook, and Adobe
- Excellent time management skills; ability to effectively manage conflicting requirements and priorities
- Strong communication, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and discretion
- Self-motivated to achieve high standards in all aspects of work
- Client service oriented and professional
- Knowledge of the Tax Court, Federal Court, and Federal Court of Appeal is an asset but not required
