A long-established sole practitioner in central Etobicoke specializing in real estate, wills, estates, contract, family and corporate law is seeking an experienced professional who is a dedicated and hardworking law clerk / legal assistant with 4+ years' relevant experience to join the team. The successful candidate will exemplify professionalism, customer service, reliability and high attention to detail.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reporting directly to principal
- Responsible for overall day-to-day operations of the firm (i.e. answer phone calls, take accurate messages, scan/copy/fax documents, schedule appointments, banking, maintain filing system)
- Accountable for the collection and entering of accurate data (maintaining data in required databases and programs from initial file opening to closing)
- Prepare sensitive documentation, correspondence and reports for the relevant practice areas
- Ensure timely responses to inquiries and requests for additional information
- Prepare accounts and reporting letters
- Communicate directly with other solicitors and law clerks in a professional manner
- Organize files, correspondence and related documents: ensure complete and accurate filing of all documents (hard copy and electronic copy)
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Successful completion of Law Clerk / Legal Assistant certificate / diploma or equivalent relevant experience
- 4+ years practical relevant experience and current knowledge of the legal process and procedures
- Extremely high level of attention to detail and follow up
- Demonstrated discretion and experience conducting confidential business matters
- Proven organizational, interpersonal, communication and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a dynamic working environment
- Strong ability to work independently, efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines
- Excellent written and proof reading skills, with attention to detail
- Strong focused work ethic, capable to work independently, take initiative and assume accountability
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Adobe, RealtiWeb (LDD), Teraview, DivorceMate
