The role
We are looking to appoint a Laundry Assistant to work at Caer Gwent. You will ensure all laundry at the Home is dealt with efficiently and in line with guidelines whilst observing safe working practices by following correct procedures (including Health and Safety, COSHH and other legislative requirements). You will also need to have the ability to understand the needs of our residents; work well as part of a team and build positive relationships.
Main Duties
- To complete laundry schedule.
- To use responsibly cleaning materials in the recommended fashion.
- To ensure clean laundry is ironed, folded and distributed in the appropriate manner.
- To observe safe working practices and avoid creating hazards.
- To ensure soiled laundry is dealt with efficiently, in the appropriate manner and without cross contamination.
- To report to senior staff any faulty equipment, maintenance requirements, etc.
- To report to senior staff any untoward incidents regarding residents or their possessions.
- Ensure the laundry is left clean and tidy.
- To ensure drier filter is clean and free from debris.
- To clean floor surfaces daily.
- To participate in staff meetings and training sessions, as appropriate.
- To personally be responsible for complying with Fire Precaution procedures.
- To work in a spirit of co-operation with all the Home’s staff.

Job Requirements
Essential
- Demonstrates appropriate interpersonal style with service users, visitors and colleagues
- Ability to provide a good standard of customer service
- The post holder must be able to provide a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Desirable
- Experience of working with older people.
- Demonstrates awareness of Dementia
- Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work procedures
