Job description

We are looking forthree , full time, permanent flexible and enthusiastic Language development workersto join the Speech and Language Surestart team, delivering the communication and language pathway across Manchester. You will be working as part of a supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists and Language Development Workers in a variety of locations including children’s centres nurseries and children’s home environment. This is to support early year’s children and their families in developing children’s language skills.

The post is Band 4 full time fixed term – 37.5 hours per week.

The Manchester Speech and Language Therapy Service is committed to providing a high-quality service to children and families across the city of Manchester.

We are looking forthree flexible and enthusiastic Language development workersto join the established Communication and Language Early years team in Manchester.

The focus of the established team has been to embed a citywide, multi-agency communication and language pathway to provide early identification and support for children with moderate language difficulties. This has been developed as part of Manchester’s drive to improve children’s school readiness and life outcomes.

This role is an excitingnewpublic healthinitiativeto develop and deliver an extended Speech and Language support offer for early years children displaying social communication difficulties and is part of Manchester’s Family Hub trailblazers offer.

You will be working as part of a supportive team of Speech and Language Therapists and Language Development Workers in a variety of locations including children’s centres, Family Hubs, and children’s home environment, to support early year’s children and their families in developing children’s language skills. There will be an opportunity for some home working when delivering virtual input with families. Specialist training in supporting children with social the communication difficulties will be provided.
