Landscape Gardening Crew Member

The Blooming Gardener offers premium services in HRM and surrounding area. We provide landscape design and consulting as well as landscape installation and ongoing maintenance for residential and commercial clients. With a well-established client base, our business offers custom and thoughtful landscape designs intended to thrive in the Nova Scotia Climate. This includes consulting and design, product supply and professional installation working alongside our clients to meet their specific needs. Our team consists of horticultural professional design specialists with a focus on training and educating new team members with a genuine interest in our craft.
Who are you?
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic gardening/horticultural minded trainee to join our Gardening Division of The Blooming Gardener in the role as Landscape Gardening Crew Member for the 2023 season. This position is full-time until December. ONLY NON STUDENT applicants will be considered. The Blooming Gardener offers a competitive compensation package as well as an opportunity to work with some of the most visible clients in HRM. In this position you will work with small teams reporting to the Landscape Gardener Foreman. You will work alongside a small team of laborers in the installation and routine garden maintenance for mainly high end & commercial clients.
Duties are included (but not limited to):
· Gardening weeding (not lawn care), mulching, planting Pruning
· Interact professionally with clients on jobsite while representing the brand
· Renovation, installation and maintenance of gardens
· Frequent Kneeling, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, standing, walking
· Loading and Unloading vehicles with product and supplies
· Execute plans per the Landscape Designer + Foreman
· Work alongside Landscape Install team when required
Position Requirements
- Some knowledge or genuine interest in developing skills related to the characteristics and cultural requirements of ornamental plants, shrubs and trees adapted to the region
- Horticultural education and/or relevant experience an asset but not required
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements and hours of the position (standing, lifting, always mobile)
- Seasonal Full time, Part time & Casual positions available
- Flexible schedule with an understanding that workdays may be postponed or workloads combined due to weather
