Landscape & Forestry Trainee (Level 1)
Salary: £22,000 per annum (initially Fixed Term Contract 18 months)
Hours: 37.5 hours Monday to Friday

The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an 18-month training scheme and develop a career in amenity horticulture. Our training scheme includes attendance of appropriate courses and NPTC Certification. Subject to training and practical criteria being met this role will become permanent with further training opportunities available.
You will work within a small team specialising in ‘Landscape and Forestry’ out in our parks, grid road landscapes and woodland to ensure our green estate is maintained and well presented. This will involve carrying out works as instructed which includes tree work, thinning, chipping, stump grinding, tree planting, weed control (spraying and mulching) cleansing and other soft and hard landscaping work as required while working on own initiative as well as part of a team.
You will be working outside in all seasons.
About You
You may already have some interest or experience in the landscape or forestry industry or are attending college on an industry related course (e.g. horticulture, land management).
You should have good communication skills; be able to apply initiative to your work; follow instructions; and be a fast learner and a good team player. You will need to demonstrate effective time management skills and have a full driving license.
You will be prepared and motivated to take on further training that will help enhance your individual skill levels and be able to communicate effectively with team members, other Trust staff, the general public and other third parties.
