Job description
The Capital Works team are responsible for delivering WDH’s capital reinvestment programme and associated planned property maintenance projects to ensure WDH properties are refurbished and improved in line with set standards, specifications, and requirements.
The team have their own internal service provider (ISP) workforce and utilise a variety of sub-contractors to complete these works. Much of the work includes major environmental projects to create off street parking and improve the aesthetic looks of our estates, replacement of defective roofs, Multi component replacement works, installation of external wall insulation (to provide more energy efficient homes for customers), rendering as well as grinding and pointing brickwork. Other projects include sustainability initiatives for a more energy efficient portfolio of assets and the renewal of the organisations Independent Living Schemes which provide modern, quality homes with innovative communal living spaces to meet the changing needs of a vulnerable society.
What you'll be doing:
To ensure our projects are delivered successfully, you will:
- assist tradespeople to complete property maintenance or construction tasks;
- fulfil driving and logistics duties to ensure materials, equipment and resources are available to tradespeople and sub-contractors;
- segregate work areas on construction sites with fencing and barriers to ensure the safe delivery of construction tasks;
- complete groundworks, excavations, demolition and site preparatory work by hand, where mechanical plant cannot be used; and
- ensure good housekeeping, cleanliness, and tidiness on the respective work stream / project.
What we’re looking for:
The Capital Works team are looking for someone to join our established team and work closely their respective site management team to deliver a variety of retrofit construction works to benefit WDH communities and the local area. You will be an energetic, driven and committed individual who can take on a wide range of tasks and complete these to ensure works are completed safely within financial, operational and customer service performance targets.
