Dementia Support Worker
Up to £12.56 per hour
Location: Hylton Road, Millfield, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, SR4 7AB
Sponsorship is considered for this role. To be eligible you must currently reside in the UK & hold the required qualifications and experience.

As a Dementia Support Worker, you will have responsibility for the delivery of exceptional care to a designated group of people living with dementia. The Dementia Support Worker will ensure that people are treated with respect and dignity, your approach is empathetic, compassionate, and focused on ensuring their life is the best it can be, promoting the strengths and abilities of each person.
In specially designed areas, you will engage with individuals, ensuring you understand their needs, encourage, assist, and support people to participate in appropriate leisure activities and activities of daily living, normalising life as much as possible with joy and happiness.
This role does involve aspects of personal care and you may support individuals who show signs of being distressed. With support from the team, you will receive tailor made dementia training to enhance your skills and the lives of people living with dementia.
You will have previous care experience, within a dementia setting. It is a requirement to have a Level 2 or a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.
Main Duties
To assist with delivery of individual peoples care and support plan, working as an integral part of the caring team, to deliver the highest standards of individualised care to people who are living with a complex dementia, adopting a holistic approach which encompasses the individual needs of both the person and their families.
Ensuring that people retain their identity, are comfortable, are engaged in meaningful activities, that communication is appropriately facilitated, that they retain their independence, that their choices are always met, they are treated with respect and dignity and given their rights to privacy.
