The role of a Senior Support Worker at our unit might be of interest to any individuals that are looking for progression. Support and relevant training will be provided for the right candidate.
ROLE:
To work as part of a team supporting people with learning disabilities who display risk behaviours, in the pursuit of their daily life. Meeting individual service user needs within their home and the community, under the direction of the Service Manager. To lead the shift in the absence of manager/deputy/nurse. To be working towards a QCF 3 in Health and Social Care and previous experience as a Support Worker.
Work any of the 7 days between the hours of 2045-0800 (working 3 nights week 1 and four nights in week 2)
Pay is £12.14-£12.44
Service User Related Responsibilities:
1. Carry out duties as required under the direction of the Manager/Deputy.
2. To be involved in meeting each service users individual needs on a daily basis. This is to include transporting service users to appointments and other engagements as required by driving the Company vehicles if the worker has a driving licence.
3. To support individual’s priority needs, completing daily timetables as directed.
4. To facilitate the involvement of service users in daily household tasks, i.e.
cleaning, personal laundry, shopping and preparing meals, etc.
5. Assist in providing basic care where people have a physical illness.
6. To report any service user general issues/concerns to the Service Manager.
7. To participate in service users leisure pursuits at home and within the community.
8. To act as Key-Worker (where appropriate) for identified service users as designated by the Service Manager.
9. To advocate on behalf of service users where appropriate.
10. To work flexible hours, to meet the individual’s needs.
11. Participate in the support planning process as directed.
12. To support and guide service users with learning disabilities/mental health conditions and associated risk behaviours, using Positive Behavioural Approaches.
13. To carry out any other duties as reasonably required by the Company.
General Responsibilities
1. To lead the shift in the absence of the manager/deputy/nurse.
2. To work in accordance with Organisational and local Policies and Procedures.
3. Participate in maintaining the internal/external upkeep of the house.
4. Communicate relevant information clearly via appropriate channels.
5. Report any potential hazards/risks to the Service Manager in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations.
6. Undertake staff training as appropriate.
7. Participate in Staff Appraisal Scheme.
8. Maintain all aspects of confidentiality with the service at all times.
9. Present a positive image to neighbours and the general public.
10. To undertake training in the Safe handling of Medication and participate in the administration of medication for service users.
11. To carry out supervisions for Support Workers and provide day to day support to the staff team.
12. Deploy staff according to service users and service needs.
13. Ensure service users records are securely stored and viewed in line with Data Protection legislation.
14. To ensure that there is adequate shift cover at all times to enable appropriate levels of support for all service users.
