Laboratory Technicians at Sygnature Discovery play a pivotal role in supporting our scientists, ensuring they have the resources they need to carry out scientific research within our well-equipped and cutting-edge laboratories. Whilst this role does not offer a route into a scientific position, it is a fantastic opportunity for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Laboratory Technician team in their efforts to support the successful day-to-day running of our Nottingham laboratories.
Responsibilitie:
- Stock checking of general consumable stores and re-ordering.
- Allocation of bar codes as requested by Scientists for importing into the Chemical Inventory.
- Waste management
- General Lab equipment maintenance and/or coordinating engineers for repairs and servicing of equipment in conjunction with scientists.
- Assisting with decontamination of equipment.
- Assisting in the preparation of reagent/buffers.
- Register and recording Fixed Asset Numbers on new equipment purchases and recording them on Amici.
- Proactively seeking to support others within the team during quiet periods.
- Using relevant systems to identify tasks and track their resolution. (Including Spiceworks, whiteboard trackers and Amici).
- Maintaining a tidy workplace in addition to a high level of H&S awareness.
- Remaining contactable during working hours.
- Liaising with the team to ensure core working hours and tasks are covered.
Candidate Profile:
- 10 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above including English Language and Maths.
- A can-do, enthusiastic work attitude.
- Able to work to deadlines in a safe and efficient manner – prioritising tasks as necessary.
- Great attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A good working knowledge of mathematics and IT – confident in the use of a variety of IT system, including Outlook, Word, Excel and ideally some experience of using purchasing systems.
- Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be provided.
