Job description
We are looking for an energetic and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Laboratory Media team who has excellent customer focus, attention to detail and the ability to deliver outstanding service to scientific groups.
Job Purpose
The Tropic Media-Preparation Team performs a critical function in the Tropic research pipeline by preparing high quality plant growth media and other sterile consumables for our skilled research staff in addition to performing other laboratory support services such as glassware preparation, autoclaving and consumables replenishment.
The Laboratory Technician will report to the Laboratory Media Team Supervisor and will, with other members of the Laboratory Media team, prepare high quality plant cell media and sterile consumables for use in the Tropic research laboratories.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture of media, sterile supplies, and hormone stocks for use in plant tissue culture.
- Preparation of tissue culture plates using sterile technique.
- Glassware collection and washing.
- Waste collection and processing using the correct waste streams.
- Monitoring of laboratory consumables levels and restocking as necessary
- Arranging for collection and redistribution of laundered laboratory coats
- Other duties that may be required
Requirements
Essential:
- Organized, customer focused and a hands-on mindset.
- Attention to detail, neat and tidy worker.
- Ability to follow SOPs repeatedly to the correct standard.
Preferred:
- Experienced laboratory or media technician, ideally with an understanding of laboratory operations.
- Biological degree or equivalent experience.
