Job description
Applications are invited for a Laboratory Technician vacancy, under the supervision of Professor Kylie Vincent and Dr Stephen Carr. The post is for a period of up to 30 months and is funded by the BBSRC.
The post will mainly involve assisting in the preparation of hydrogenase enzymes from E. coli. The post will also involve supporting a wider research effort into mechanistic and structural studies of hydrogenases and other metalloenzymes.
You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the Laboratory, including ensuring equipment is functioning, and monitoring and ordering stock as necessary.
You will be educated to at least A-level or equivalent qualification in science with laboratory experience, and have a good knowledge of chemical and biological health and safety regulations. You will have good IT skills, good communication skills and ability to take initiative as appropriate. You will be able to plan and prioritise your own workload and have a high level of attention to detail.
The post is based at the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, OX1 3QR but, the work will mainly take place at the Research Complex at Harwell, Didcot, Oxon, OX11 0FA. Job-share or flexible working will be considered. The post is available as soon as possible.
