Position: Laboratory Technician
Reporting to: Laboratory Scientist
Key Working Relationships: All team members
Hours: Full Time. Monday - Friday
Qualifications: Degree in Biological Science or equivalent
Job Purpose
To work closely with the Lead Scientist to ensure the effective and efficient running of the laboratory on a daily basis. Duties will include blood donation testing, manufacture of isolated cell products and PBMC's and cryopreservation. Packing donations for shipping, stock replenishment, compliance with laboratory SOP's.
Responsibilities
To comply with the companies Operational Management System (ISO9001 Manual & ISO Tracker)
To understand all SOP’s relevant to the job role and carry out the duties efficiently and effectively
To manage all laboratory waste including the timely disposal of clinical and general waste
To support with general laboratory administrative duties including scanning new samples, preparing product data sheets, processing customers’ orders each day including packing, ensuring that deadlines are met for the dispatch of orders
To help with stock rotation of critical supplies
To offer support to all departments as required
To be a role model for the agreed company values and behaviours on a daily basis
To communicate and interact constructively with all members of the team
To undertake all mandatory training and competencies pertinent to the role.
Skills & Abilities
Previous experience of working in a Laboratory environment is desirable
IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft packages including Excel, Word & Outlook
Discipline for Health & Safety and Security at all times
Accurate attention to details and ability to keep reliable records
Able to work under pressure during busy periods and manage own workload
Willingness to learn new skills in the Laboratory if requested to do so
