We are looking for Junior Laboratory Technician to support the PerkinElmer OneSource Scientific Services on the customer’s Stevenage site.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for:
Providing operational support, including QC verification checks, for a range of Analytical and Preparative Systems
Troubleshooting and day-to-day maintenance of specialist Analytical Systems
Basic repairs of Agilent and Waters Systems
Assisting in the day-to-day operational management of a defined set of laboratories
Providing support in areas such as health and safety and quality compliance, monitoring and maintenance of equipment and laboratory resources
Job Responsibilities:
Perform a range of tasks required to actively maintain specialist Analytical Systems within a dedicated laboratory space
Provide support for a range of Analytical and Preparative Systems
Prepare, aliquot and label a large variety of buffers and reagents
Prepare materials and equipment for use and maintain lab stocks such as solvents and consumables
Perform basic troubleshooting of specialist Analytical Systems
Operate to quality approved standards (GLP/GMP)
Maintain QA systems by keeping accurate records of work undertaken, methods used, and results achieved
Ensure safe operation of any equipment used (pH meters, balances, fume cupboards etc.)
Ensure compliance with all relevant work instructions, SOPs and safety instructions
Be responsible for maintaining a tidy and efficient laboratory environment and ensuring health, safety and compliance standards are maintained
Proactively identify and implement efficiency and process improvements
Build relationships with customer and service provider organization to provide a collaborative approach to the operational management of the lab space
Timely and accurate reporting of data including performance metrics, KPIs, relevant metrics, SLAs and weekly tasks
Support management where needed
Requirements:
Knowledge and understanding of COSHH, GMP and GLP principles
Excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively
Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills
Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised to deadlines, planning, organizing, and setting priorities for own work, demonstrating organizational and time management skills
Ability to collaborate with other teams
Experience working in a laboratory environment ideally
Experience working with health and safety procedures
Educated to A-level or laboratory experience in a relevant scientific discipline
Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the team members. Ability to work independently
Self-motivated, energetic, dependable with and a clear attention to detail
Computer literacy and able to communicate using various platforms
Physical/Mental Demands
The overall physical exertion of this position requires:
Sit or stand 5-6 hours a day in laboratory areas
Sit or stand 1-2 hours a day in office area at provided PC/Laptop
Work around moving laboratory equipment and machinery and in modern office areas, undertaking a number of different problems and tasks
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in laboratory
Work with laboratory chemicals and samples
