Job description
We are looking for a civil and building services technician who can positively contribute to the provision of high-quality support in the laboratories associated with the school of the Built Environment and Architecture.
About you
You will have a thorough understanding of engineering principles, ideally gained in a civil engineering, or building services environment, and be able to effectively pass this on in a practical setting.
The focus of this role will be assisting with the preparation and support of practical demonstrations and interactive experimental classes, so you will need to be a confident user of the established equipment and processes used for testing and evaluation and have the aptitude to about new and/or bespoke systems.

You will be an integral member of our technical team, supporting a wide range of activities in purpose-built facilities including our thermo-dynamics, fluids, lighting, acoustics, and soil mechanics laboratories.
The skills and experience you will need to be successful.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a closely related Engineering or Building Services discipline, with notable experience of working in a relevant technical field.

Significant industrial experience gained in an investigative environment closely associated with a relevant Engineering or Building Services discipline.
Details about the role
Full time (35 hours per week) on a 1 year, fixed term contract.
Please note that the University is operating a hybrid working model which means a mix of working on site and from home, confirmation of days worked on campus are arranged with the line manager.
